SA Mines and Energy Journal : November-December 2011
OCTOBER/NOVEMBER 2011 SA MINES & ENERGY JOURNAL 46 EVENTS More than 160 people ran in support of the Royal Flying Doctor Service in the 2011 City to Bay Fun Run on September 18, including an enthusiastic team from SACOME. Team members made their way down Anzac Highway wearing red RFDS shirts to raise awareness of the organisation, re-energising afterwards with fresh fruit, juice and pancakes prepared by RFDS volunteers at the finish line. The event raised more than $11,000 for the RFDS, with General Manager Marketing and PR Charlie Paterson saying it was the result of many weeks of fundraising efforts by committed team members. "The RFDS provides the finest care to more than 250,000 Australians each year -- that's one person every two minutes. But we rely on fundraising initiatives and donations from the community to purchase and medically-equip our Pilatus PC-12 aircraft at a cost of $6 million each. " City - Bay Buccess with RFDS George McKenzie of Finlaysons lawyers and Helen Thomas of PIRSA donated their time to present at a briefing on August 25, on the new Mining Act and Regulations which came into force in July. Held at Worley Parsons, the event was attended by around 50 SACOME members. The key changes and significant impacts to explorers and miners were discussed followed by ample time for questions and networking.
